Thanks: 1 times

I am trying the tutorial "Lesson 3 : Quick Connect" from the Appi Guide.html
in Visual Studio 2012 and I am running into a problem at step 2 with the function Get Endpoints() at the row:
"IUaConnection::GetEndpoints(serverURL.c_str(), *localeId, *profileUris, *foundEndpoints, status)"

While using this with an OPC UA Server the following error appears:
"UAStack:0x8106000, 0x8106000 - could not translate"

From what I understand the problem doesn't have to do with finding the server but with an intern error from the UAStack.

However I can't figure out how to solve this, since the Environment Setup in Visual in Studio is correct
(Adding the link libraries, Adding the path to the link libraries, Adding the paths to the libraries header files, All DLLs are in the PATH).

What does the error mean and how can I solve it?

I would appreciate any help

Two things:
- The 'could not translate' message is telling you that the language files aren't setup so it can't get a textual description of the error code for you. There's a section in the docs that describes how to do it.
- The error code means "The hostname could not be resolved."

I suggest you check for a typo in the host name. If you're sure that the name is correct, check that the name can be resolved via DNS or a hosts file. You can use nslookup at the command line to check that the name can be resolved.

It's a common problem for OPC UA to have issues with name lookup. Clients will connect to a server using an IP address, and the server will report names to the client that it can't resolve. The client then tries to use to connect to the server. It's especially common with VMs running on host only networking.
