Hi all,

This is my first message on this platform so, hi everybody.

I am trying to use Matrikon data broker and Matrikon OPC UA Explorer. After installing both applications, and after doing the right changes on Windows 10 so that the certificate becomes a trusted one, I tried to connect with the Matrikon data broker using the OPC Explorer. For that operation I used the computer user account credentials that I used to run the Matrikon data broker as a service. However, I got two error messages:

Connection for Matrikon Data Broker - instancia3 - Session - 1 failed due to BadUserAccessDenied: User does not have permission to perform the requested operation.(0x801F0000).
Connection failed due to BadUserAccessDenied: User does not have permission to perform the requested operation.(0x801F0000).

I don't unsertand why I don't have the permissions to perform that operation.

Any idea?

Best,
Luis

+1 for me...

Moved the certs from rejected to trusted... got past the cert issue.

Now logs says the same as Luis Martin's post.

5.7 How to Configure Matrikon Data Broker

You can use Matrikon OPC UA Explorer to configure a connected Matrikon Data Broker server.
1. To configure Matrikon Data Broker, the following user accounts are predefined in
Matrikon Data Broker:

• Admin: Connect as the admin user to be able to configure all available options as well as
change user account passwords. The initial password is blank.

If you are connecting to Matrikon Data Broker for the first time, it is
recommended to connect as an Admin user and change the inital password
to make it more secured.

• Guest: Guest users have Read permissions only on Matrikon Data Broker Diagnostics
information. They cannot modify any data values or configure Matrikon Data Broker. Set
the password while enabling the user.

• Operator: Operator users have Read and Write permissions on data values including
aggregated data sources. They cannot configure Matrikon Data Broker. Set the
password while enabling the user.

• Anonymous: The Anonymous user account is disabled by default. For more information
on how to enable an anonymous user access, see Enabling Anonymous User Access.
They have the same access permissions as Guest user. There is no Password required
for this account.

2. To connect to a server, see How to Connect to a Server

Hello David and Luis.
I am happy to say that you have found the correct path to resolve this issue. Indeed the product does use built-in accounts for some light management of user access. This will be updated in the future to be a more robust account control feature.

I am sorry we did not get back to you quicker on this, I hope it was not inconvenient.
